Boveda & Our Community
Boveda is a pioneering salon based in the north of Glasgow and has been welcoming clients for over 30 years. The success of Boveda lies firmly in Donna’s belief of Business and communites working together.
After 30 of running a successful local salon in 2017 Donna and team became Boveda in the stunning former RBS building at 1944 Maryhill Rd. Donna grew up in Kilmun St and often would come into the branch as a 6 year old to deposit her half pennies.
Who would have believed so many years later she would own Boveda.
As a young stylist Donna would visit Eastpark School and cut the children’s hair. This led to a very special bond continuing to this day where Eastpark is Bovedas’ charity of choice. Raising over £3000 so far with events such as a fabulous fashion show within the local High School, not to mention the donations from guests who use the complimentrey bar area.
Young adults from Eastpark attend Boveda for work experience, being valued by all the team and Guests of Boveda it is lovely that they enjoy their time there so much. Modern Apprentices recruited from the local community after leaving school have grown the team to who they are today, 10 years plus experienced stylist’s, with a wealth of Industry education behind them. The future of Boveda is to build on the solid foundations of its success, with the support of our community we look to create more jobs and opportunities for our young people. Supporting local business has never been made so important after Covid19, and Boveda was truly taken care of by the community it serves during the Lockdown and after.
The community stepped in to help Boveda survive and go on to thrive by shopping local and enjoying all the services we have on offer, ensuring our sustainability at such an uncertain time. Donna and the team were truly humbled by the support with guests buying products, vouchers and gifting money to the team whilst they were on Furlough. Testament again to the bond between business and community.
The next few years are an exciting time for Boveda, with the next generation of multi skilled and talented stylist looking to serve our community by making them look and feel fabulous, after the changes in the last 30 years, strap in for the next 30.
